- Body Fat Scales - Home version. There are many versions of the body fat analyzers on the market. They all claim to be able to measure your body fat percentage very quickly with zero hassle. And for the most part they do work.
Basically they work by using a bioelectrical impedance method. What this means is that a low-level of electrical current is passed through your body and the "impedance" is measured. Many personal trainers have been using this method with their clients for years and have found it to be quite reliable.
- Skin fold Callipers. These are much like very big tweezers. Callipers are used to hold on to your folds of skin at about 8 specific points on your body to measure the thickness. This is not the best method to use.
For one thing, you need a second person who will have to take the measurements. In addition, unless the person you have operating the callipers has done thousands before you, you'll end up with very different readings each time. It's a very cheap method but not highly recommended.
- Hydrostatic Weighing-This consists of underwater weighing. Basically you sit on a scale inside a tank of water with big tubes in your mouth, your nose clamped and blow out as much air as you can. You are submersed completely.
Fat is lighter than water, so the more fat you have, the more you will float. The scale you're sitting on can measure your weight to determine your body fat percentage. This is a fairly accurate method to measure the effectiveness of fat burners, but it's very expensive (you can usually only have this performed at a university) and you won't be able to do it at all it you don't feel comfortable being under water and breathing out all your air.

In order for fat burners for women to work properly, they should be strong enough to curb your appetite, speed up the metabolism so you will burn more calories, create heat so you burn more fat, but will not give you the unwanted side effects such as: jitteriness, nervousness or heart palpitations.
With most fat burners for women advertised in infomercials, magazines etc, yes the models look great but even if some of these products did work as they say (we've never seen any scientific evidence that they do) it's not something you can take for the rest of your life.
