  2. Skin fold Callipers. These are much like very big tweezers. Callipers are used to hold on to your folds of skin at about 8 specific points on your body to measure the thickness. This is not the best method to use in determining if certain abdominal fat burners are working for you.

    For one thing, you need a second person who will have to take the measurements. In addition, unless the person you have operating the callipers has done thousands before you, you'll end up with very different readings each time. It's a very cheap method but not highly recommended.

  3. Hydrostatic Weighing-This consists of underwater weighing. Basically you sit on a scale inside a tank of water with big tubes in your mouth, your nose clamped and blow out as much air as you can. You are submersed completely.

    Fat is lighter than water so the more fat you have, the more you will float. The scale you're sitting on can measure your weight to determine your body fat percentage. This is a fairly accurate method to measure the effectiveness of fat burners for women, but it's very expensive (you can usually only have this performed at a university) and you won't be able to do it at all it you don't feel comfortable being under water and breathing out all your air.
